WHY THE MACHINE BEATS A SHOVEL
HAND DIGGING SNAPS ROOTS. SNAPPED ROOTS BECOME NEW PLANTS.
Blackberry root balls are traditionally dug out by hand, which usually snaps the root tips off underground. Besides being brutal, painful work, it leaves live root behind to regrow.
The excavator lifts the whole root ball out with the roots attached. Nothing is left to push a new cane next spring.
Debris is hauled to a local topsoil recycler and composted, or left on site in piles for burning, whichever you prefer.

BEFORE YPU BOOK IT
STRAIGHT TALK ABOUT THE TRADEOFFS
Brendon will tell you at the walk through when mowing would get you there for less. Here is what excavation actually involves.
COST
Excavation can be more expensive than mowing the same area. You are paying for machine time, hauling and finish work.
UNDERGROUND UTLITIES
Utilities must be addressed before anything gets dug. Septic fields, water lines and power runs all get sorted out first.
ACCESS
The excavator needs about 10 feet of access. Tight side yards and narrow gates usually point toward mowing instead.
DISTURBED GROUND
Digging leaves ground that needs smoothing and seeding. You get clean, workable soil, but it is a construction process.

WHEN EXCAVATION IS WORTH IT
BUILDING OR FENCEING
You need clean ground now for a structure, fence line or new landscaping.
SELLING THE PROPERTY
No time for a season of follow up cutting before it goes on the market.
NO FOLLOW UP POSSIBLE
Yards lost to years of growth that you want usable again this season.
SMALLER DEFINED AREAS
Ground where digging is risky but the brush still has to go.
